Al-Haq

Assalamualaikum...(entry nih mungkin diselit dengan sedikit respon yang emosional...berusaha untuk melimitkan opinion yang emosional)

All praise is due to Allah (SWT). We praise Him and seek His assistance. We ask for His forgiveness and take refuge in Him from the evil within ourselves and from the evil of our deeds. He whom Allah (SWT) guides will never be diverted yet whomever He sends astray will never find his way. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah (SWT) alone, He has no
partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

Today was a great experience for me...takkan merase kot pengalaman macam nih dekat Malaysia..hehe...alhamdulillah untuk pengalaman ini..insyaAllah akan meneguhkan lagi iman yang dah semakin nipis...lebih nipis dari selapis atom...
Today Vanderbilt held a talk bertemakan Middle East meets West..and of course, kalau middle east mestilah Islam pon diheret same ke dalam perbincangan...jadinya...pada harinih..dijemputlaa speaker Ayaan Hirsi Ali, is a Dutch, feminist, writer, and politician. I personally don't understand kenape dia nak jadi west sangat...huhu....

So..she talked..basically what she said were about how kejamnye ajaran Islam, the way she did it was by just mentioning part2 tertentu dari al-Quran atau hadis yang dia guna untuk advantage diri dia memburukkan image Islam (politician...=p) and she also mixes Islam with culture..something she is having problem with I think...kene belajar balek akak nih...hehehe ....antara contoh yang dapat disum upkan from her talk are:

1. Islam does not promote freedom, tak sealiran dengan democracy and is against human rights

2. Orang Islam nih takleh nak berhujah langsung dengan hukum yang telah tetap dalam al-Quran..as if kene follow blindly

3. Women oppression( nih campur2 banyak ngan culture)-arrange marriage (yang she dengan berjayanye escaped from), wife beating by husband kalau disobey him, perempuan kene cover up tapi lelaki takyah, dihalang dari belajar when reach puberty age

4. Hukum shariah yang against human rights - mencuri potong tangan, berzina kene rejam dengan batu dan disebat 100 kali, and she mentioned ada parents yang bunuh anak sendiri sebab found out yang anak mereka nih date lelaki (this is not shariah pon kott??)

* I don't think she knows about Islam deeply, but she only know the things she wanted to know to go against Islam and Muslims*

And my personal response to this:

1. Tak berbaloi nak lawan dia nih balek sebab time soal jawab pon...tak penah nak accept opinion orang yan menyoal..dia hanye tahu menjawab untuk men-defend her opinions...and she talks about critical thinking (huh!)..ade ke dia perli sorang brother Muslim nih for saying that she was attacking the Muslims and Islam (which memang ponn) and she said that she was just giving critical opinion (bleghhh...TAK)

2. Yeah..like Danny said..kite sebagai Muslim datang memang dengan open mind laa sebab nak try faham and see how she thinks of things...well...memang laa ape dia cakap tuh tadelaa salah..they are true..but it's not the whole truth...its part of the truth...itu yang cube saye tekankan disini..saye tak berfikiran sempit mengenai her stand..but it wasn't the WHOLE TRUTH!..itu laa kot yang paling saye tidak berpuas hati...hehe....

3. Banyak laa sangat sebenarnye rase nak tempiaskan balek ape yang Cik Ayaan nih punyer points tadi...and frankly, accusation dia nih tadelaa baru pon..we've heard of this from other people yang tak suke Islam jugak...dah memang tak suke...derang akan bang habis2 laa kan

4. Saya yakin...each one of us (Muslims) yang hadir tadi memang boleh balas and defy balik SEMUA yang dia cakap mengenai Islam...

the truth will remain to be true and someday the truth will come out the open...

wallahua'lam~

salaam alaik wrm

nice entry dear.
everything is true indeed. sedihnya, they only know Islam from what experienced or see. not from the true Islam.

and so, let's make the best for our coming IAW. We will show the truth of Islam insyaALlah..

Allahu akbar!!

Sama pendapat ngan Dr. Awadh. Baik aku improve knowledge aku about Islam drp dok dengar minah tu cakap bende yang ngarut2.

Pastu vendi ni satu hal, dlm banyak2 org islam kat dunia ni, banyak2 shuyukh, banyak2 ulama', ko main sebat je ajar hirsi ali. cakap pasal islam and the west. pastu elok la, esok si reza aslan tu, syiah la pulak. nak cakap bende2 islam. haihh.

bile jemput ridley, cemas lak vendi padahal dah la sis ridley cakap best, sedap didengar, dan itu baru betul.

aku beli je tiket hirsi ali ngan harapan kurang sket tiket utk org g lebih2 lg non muslim.

boo hirsi ali. boo. xyah layan la..

Assalamualaikum wrt.

I personally went to the talk to hear her view, where I believe it's critical for us as Muslims to be aware of the threats from an apostate like her.

And personally, I pity her so much. She can't even differentiate between culture and true Islamic teaching, blaming the latter for how her father and family tradition affected her life; arranged marriage etc.

She claimed herself as feminist, implying that Muslimaat was oppressed; Wallahi, I am a Muslimah, and never felt oppressed ever in my life.

MasyAllah, she was deviated far..

And I even feel pity for her, imagining her fate in the akhirat in front of Allah SWT. She might got big applauses from the people here in dunya, but curses from Allah SWT in the akhirat.

Salaam,

Great post lah, Ahswaq. Sungguh emo skali haha. What has been said by my fellow brothers and sisters, is indeed true. I have no intention to elaborate more on that matter, i.e Ayaan's laknatullahi alaik view of Islam.

Feeling like an imaginary light-bulb shinin' above my head, I've been thinking, am I (as a muslim) responsible for some us who had lost respect/faith to Allah. Did they turn their hearts away from Islam because of what we, Muslims have done to our very own Ummah? Think about it, Muslims are still fighting against each other, some of us are still practicing bid'ah etc? Just by thinking about it makes me restless. I'm afraid I will also be held accountable for this on the Day of Judgment.

How can we ask other people to respect our religion for we have shadowed the light of truth of the perfect religion because of our own deeds.

I'd like to say this to myself and fellow muslims, kembalilah kepada Al-Quran & Sunnah, teruskanlah usaha dakwah.

Janganlah semata-mata menyalahkan sungai kerana membasahi kain, sekiranya diri sendiri yg mahu terjun kedalamnya.

AllahMahaMengetahui

**nk boooo Hirsi Ali gak~~ booo~!!!**

hehe..thanks for the comments...best2 bace comment korang....

betul azni..even ramai yang cheer for her semalam...does not necessarily means she's right...haha..just like dia kate...even Islam is the fastest growing religion doesn't mean it's right..haaa...padan mukeeeee ayaaan..hehehe

betulkan danny...cam kite discuss semalam laa...how can we blame the non Muslims for saying bad things about our religion kalu Muslims sendiri yang membawa image yang salah mengenai Islam and also tak de rase ingin back up Islam...tapi takleh laa wat senyap gak atas alasan 'diri aku tak betul lagi'..sebab everybody make mistakes, so kene saling tego menegur jugak lee kan?...

Salam,

first of all, thanks to Amar for directing me to this page =) I found out that Hirsi Ali was coming to vandy through him, and did try to persuade him to attend, so hopefully he would blog about it. But thanks anyway for this good entry.

I tried to read Infidel, a book by Hirsi Ali, but I stopped at the 2nd page, because I found that the root of her denouncing Islam is due to the practices of her culture. So yes, I agree, this woman has serious confusion between what is religious practices and what is cultural.

However, the reason I'm still interested with what he has to say is to find out of there's more to her misunderstanding. From what I read in your entry, apparently there is not.

That's a pity, really. I just came across an excellent provocation by Geraldine Brooks, who when explained that some practices in the Muslim communities in the middle East are cultural but were always mistaken as religious, she bravely shot back: then why don't Muslims to anything to stop it? (especially things like honor killing and female circumcision).

What sadden me about people like Hirsi Ali is how they think they're so right, especially with all the backings from Westerners with deeper 'interest.'

Thanks again for the entry!

Rebecca Ilham, you are most welcome!

i just read in the Vanderbilt Hustler today regarding her talk, here is a point that she said that I think really shows that she does not have a clue what Islam is!

'...Many Muslims, she noted, do not abide by all the ideologies of Islam. It is the ideology of Islam itself that she blames...'

aiyaaa..go back and read the most basic things in Islam laa akak!
