Wiihabilitation?

I suddenly remembered that a friend told me about the wonder Wii had made to patients recovering from illness such as stroke, getting out of surgeries and also combat injuries. Here is the article about how Wii helped these people... and I also remembered my brother telling me that doctors that play games show better skills during surgery or suture (jahit luka)..playing video games somehow increases the doctors reactions and hand skills ( i don't know how far this claim is true, so i searched for it too) andI found about this...a doctor, a laparoscopic surgeon(dia bedah orang by making smallest bukaan as possible) did a survey at the hospital where he worked and here's the result:-

Rosser surveyed 33 surgeons about their video game playing habits. Then he assessed their performance in a training course that tests surgeons on their skill and speed. "We found out that people who had played at least 3 hours a week in the past, they were faster and they also committed fewer errors than the people who did not have any video game experience," he reports. "And the people who were currently playing video games were also better than the ones not currently playing."

Researchers found that

(a) participants who once played video games for more than three hours per week had a 37% reduction in errors when performing laparoscopic surgery and accomplished their surgical task 27% more quickly than their non video-game-playing counterparts;

(b) participants who had played video games experienced a 28% reduction in errors when suturing and accomplished their suturing 24% more quickly;

(c) current video game players scored 40% better overall in the teaching program; and

(d) current video game skill and past video game experience were significantly more indicative of laparoscopic surgical proficiency than years of training or number of laparoscopic cases performed previously.

here is the full story and here is the other one ..

* ade persamaan tak sikit2?*

In my personal opinion..surgeons do function better kalau derang dah biase play games, because most of the surgeries these days (rasenye most laa if not some..hehe) use interface which means masukkan any probe (yang usually nampak mcm wand harry potter tak pon batang2 besi) into the patients body and then the inside of the patient will be dispaly on an LCD, so orang2 yang play video games, unexpectedly trained their brain to match what's on screen to what's at the end of their apparatus...cool kan?...the class i'm taking this semester talks a lot about these kind of stuff and ways to improve the precision and accuracy...suke class nih...cikgu dia sooo baik jugak...okaylaa..nak stop dah...i have to finish my project report for this superb class...but not so great lab work...heh..suke buat tapi tak suke report..boleh tak?

wallahua'lam~

p/s: pengajaran hari ini..mainlah banyak2 video games and console games..kalau kene marah..tunjuk laa blog nih ^_^

shariah law made modern?

Assalamualaikum...

I was reading about the new formed Malaysian cabonet on Malaysiakini, and I bumped into this letter written by a non-Muslim (I think laaa) about shariah law and is very interesting. And it does have something to do with yesterday's talk. Take this Ayaan!

Some excerpt from the letter

"..Some UK Muslim communities are already resolving family disputes voluntarily with shariah law. Of course, all parties should also have the right of recourse to the jurisdiction of UK courts. However, such rights have to be taught, learned and upheld. Politicising the debate on shariah law and confusing it with extreme criminal punishments which are not agreed with or practiced by most Muslims in the world does not help this process..."

Al-Haq

Assalamualaikum...(entry nih mungkin diselit dengan sedikit respon yang emosional...berusaha untuk melimitkan opinion yang emosional)

All praise is due to Allah (SWT). We praise Him and seek His assistance. We ask for His forgiveness and take refuge in Him from the evil within ourselves and from the evil of our deeds. He whom Allah (SWT) guides will never be diverted yet whomever He sends astray will never find his way. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah (SWT) alone, He has no
partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

Today was a great experience for me...takkan merase kot pengalaman macam nih dekat Malaysia..hehe...alhamdulillah untuk pengalaman ini..insyaAllah akan meneguhkan lagi iman yang dah semakin nipis...lebih nipis dari selapis atom...
Today Vanderbilt held a talk bertemakan Middle East meets West..and of course, kalau middle east mestilah Islam pon diheret same ke dalam perbincangan...jadinya...pada harinih..dijemputlaa speaker Ayaan Hirsi Ali, is a Dutch, feminist, writer, and politician. I personally don't understand kenape dia nak jadi west sangat...huhu....

So..she talked..basically what she said were about how kejamnye ajaran Islam, the way she did it was by just mentioning part2 tertentu dari al-Quran atau hadis yang dia guna untuk advantage diri dia memburukkan image Islam (politician...=p) and she also mixes Islam with culture..something she is having problem with I think...kene belajar balek akak nih...hehehe ....antara contoh yang dapat disum upkan from her talk are:

1. Islam does not promote freedom, tak sealiran dengan democracy and is against human rights

2. Orang Islam nih takleh nak berhujah langsung dengan hukum yang telah tetap dalam al-Quran..as if kene follow blindly

3. Women oppression( nih campur2 banyak ngan culture)-arrange marriage (yang she dengan berjayanye escaped from), wife beating by husband kalau disobey him, perempuan kene cover up tapi lelaki takyah, dihalang dari belajar when reach puberty age

4. Hukum shariah yang against human rights - mencuri potong tangan, berzina kene rejam dengan batu dan disebat 100 kali, and she mentioned ada parents yang bunuh anak sendiri sebab found out yang anak mereka nih date lelaki (this is not shariah pon kott??)

* I don't think she knows about Islam deeply, but she only know the things she wanted to know to go against Islam and Muslims*

And my personal response to this:

1. Tak berbaloi nak lawan dia nih balek sebab time soal jawab pon...tak penah nak accept opinion orang yan menyoal..dia hanye tahu menjawab untuk men-defend her opinions...and she talks about critical thinking (huh!)..ade ke dia perli sorang brother Muslim nih for saying that she was attacking the Muslims and Islam (which memang ponn) and she said that she was just giving critical opinion (bleghhh...TAK)

2. Yeah..like Danny said..kite sebagai Muslim datang memang dengan open mind laa sebab nak try faham and see how she thinks of things...well...memang laa ape dia cakap tuh tadelaa salah..they are true..but it's not the whole truth...its part of the truth...itu yang cube saye tekankan disini..saye tak berfikiran sempit mengenai her stand..but it wasn't the WHOLE TRUTH!..itu laa kot yang paling saye tidak berpuas hati...hehe....

3. Banyak laa sangat sebenarnye rase nak tempiaskan balek ape yang Cik Ayaan nih punyer points tadi...and frankly, accusation dia nih tadelaa baru pon..we've heard of this from other people yang tak suke Islam jugak...dah memang tak suke...derang akan bang habis2 laa kan

4. Saya yakin...each one of us (Muslims) yang hadir tadi memang boleh balas and defy balik SEMUA yang dia cakap mengenai Islam...

the truth will remain to be true and someday the truth will come out the open...

a new dawn, a new beginning

I strongly believe that every good thing that is bound to happen starts with a very significant event...it does not happen macam tuh jee.....mesti always ade something yang betul2 jadi yang akan trigger it to happen...

Well, specifically, I'm talking about PRU 12 yang baru lepas kat Malaysia...it was a real shocker indeed...good and bad (depends on which side you're on)...and a lot had been said and analyzed. My father sent me these interesting articles about the after math of Malaysia's election. You can read them here, here, and here. They are all from The Star. Even here, away from Malaysia and we are not yet affected by what is happening in Malaysia, we still discuss about it (boleh nak discuss kat sinih) ...how did it happen?...Power of Allah indeed, even things that is impossible in our mind is possible by Allah's power...Mungkin ada pihak rasa..ini balasan Allah pada yang tidak memuliakan agamaNya...tapi pada masa yang sama...jangan lupa, kemenangan yang Allah kurniakan ini boleh juga menjadi ujian kepada yang menang...contoh dah ade, yang menang kene tuduh itu ini, kerajaan baru di beri gambaran buruk walau baru sehari terbentuk....la haula wa la quwwata illa billah ilaliyyilazim....semoga kebenaran terpelihara....amiin...
